Il luogo / The Place

Bellano è un fiorente centro turistico e industriale situato in posizione panoramica sulla sponda orientale del Lario, allo sbocco della Valsassina sul delta del torrente Pioverna.

Durante il Medioevo fu feudo degli Arcivescovi di Milano e in seguito divenne dominio dei Visconti e degli Sforza. Gli statuti che il borgo emise durante il periodo comunale e che rimasero in vigore fino al 1700 sono ancora conservati.

Il nucleo più antico del paese conserva ancora case decorate, con belle facciate.

Bellano is a flourishing tourist and industrial center situated in a panoramic position on the eastern shore of the Lario, at the mouth of the Valsassina on the delta of the Pioverna torrent.

During the Middle Ages it was a feud of the Archbishops of Milan and later became a dominion of the Visconti and Sforza families. The statutes that the village issued during the communal period, and that remained in force until 1700, are still preserved.

The ancient nucleus of the village still preserves decorated houses with beautiful facades.
